Defendants enter pleas in Carbon

Seven defendants in pending criminal cases entered pleas before Judge Steven R. Serfass in Carbon County court on Thursday.

Lee Alex Snyder, 25, of Allentown, and formerly of Albrightsville, pleaded to one count of persistent disorderly conduct.He was arrested on March 11, 2012, by state police at Lehighton along Route 903 at Olympian Way in Jim Thorpe following a vehicle stop. He was a passenger in the vehicle. He caused a disturbance when troopers were arresting the driver for drunken driving.He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Lance Morgan Kunkle, 45, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of harassment as a summary offense.He was arrested on June 2, 2014, at his residence at 161 Panther Run Road in Penn Forest Township. State police at Fern Ridge responded to a domestic incident involving Kunkle and his wife, Tina Marie Kunkle. A simple assault charge was dropped in a plea bargain.Serfass imposed a fine of $300.Amber B. Knappenberger, 34, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of disorderly conduct as a summary offense.She was arrested on March 31, 2013, by Jim Thorpe police as part of an investigation of a theft of jewelry incident. A receiving stolen property charge was dropped in a plea bargain.Serfass imposed a fine of $300. Knappenberger is an inmate in the county prison on other charges.Julie A. Herman, 28, of East Stroudsburg, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance-cocaine.She was arrested by the vice unit of state police at Hazleton following the purchase of cocaine on Oct. 7, 2013, in the area of 250 S. First St., Lehighton.Serfass placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to render 50 hours of community service, get a D&A evaluation, and zero tolerance on D&A use.Sara T. Lucykanish, 20, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance-heroin.She was arrested on July 27, 2013, in the area of 124 S. Third St., Lehighton, by agents of the Attorney General's office.Serfass sentenced her to serve one to one day less 24 months in the county prison, get a D&A evaluation, render 100 hours of community service, and supply a DNA sample.She was given credit for 84 days already spent in jail on the charges and was paroled.Patrick Matthew Partington, 27, of New Tripoli, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance-heroin.He was arrested on Jan. 27, by Palmerton police in the area of 939 Mauch Chunk Road.Sentencing was deferred.Francis Levern Lockwood, 35, of Lehighton, pleaded to two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia in two pending cases.He was first arrested on Sept. 1, 2014, by state police at Lehighton in the area of Route 209 and North Main Road in Lehighton following a vehicle stop. He was a passenger in the vehicle.The second arrest occurred on Oct. 1, 2014, in the 200 block of South Second Street in Lehighton. Agents of the AG office made the arrest.Serfass placed him on probation for a year on each count, with the terms running consecutively. He was also ordered to render a total of 100 hours of community service, and get a D&A evaluation.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
