Monroe CountyCommissioner Three seatsFour Democratic candidates will compete for the two Democratic ballot spots in the November election. They are John Christy, Alan Everett, Andre Reames and Adam Rodriguez. The two Republican incumbents, Charlie Garris and John Moyer, are running unopposed on their party ticket. Garris and Moyer are in their first term as commissioners. The board of commissioners is required to have at least one representative from each party.District Attorney One seatIncumbent David Christine might as well play golf between now and the general election on Nov. 3. He's running unopposed for the Republican spot on the party's primary ballot. The Democrats won't be represented during the primary, and unless a third-party candidate turns in nominating papers by Aug. 10, come the general election, Christine will be running unopposed.Sheriff One seat totalFor the first time in 12 years, Sheriff Todd Martin will be opposed in the general election for the office he's held for about 20 years. But not during the primary. Martin is running unopposed for the Republican nomination. Trevor Tasetano will run unopposed for the Democratic nomination.Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts One seatIncumbent George Warden will run unopposed for the Republican ballot spot. Stacey Stewart-Keller will run unopposed for the Democratic ballot spot in May. The two will most likely go head-to-head in the November general election.Controller One seatRepublican incumbent Marlo Merhige in all likelihood will breeze to re-election. She will run unopposed for the Republican ballot spot in the primary. Not a single Democrat submitted a petition for controller. So, unless a third-party candidate arises, Merhige will not have an opponent in November.Register of Wills and Recorder of Deeds One seatLongtime office holder Helen Diecidue is retiring. Two Republicans, Josephine Ferro and Kirsten Marsh Fiero, will compete for the party's primary ballot spot. Democrat Hector Cintron was the only candidate in his party to submit a nominating petition and will likely secure the ballot spot for the general election.Distributed by Tribune Content Agency, LLC
