Graduation date set

Northern Lehigh High School seniors can begin to make their graduation plans.

That's after the school board on Monday unanimously agreed to conduct graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2015 on June 12.The board reached its decision after it heard from Superintendent Michael Michaels."It looks like right now, the best option for graduation would be June 12," Michaels said.Middle school team wins awardAlso on Monday, Assistant Superintendent Karen Nicholas announced that the Northern Lehigh Middle School team won the Outstanding Team Spirit Award in the second annual What's So Cool About Manufacturing? student video contest.The team was assigned the AmcorPet Packaging company to research, interview and film for a two-minute video that captures "What's So Cool About Manufacturing?"In all, 22 teams from Carbon, Lehigh, and Northampton County school districts participated in the contest, Nicholas said. The team was one of eight school districts to collect an award, she said.The team consisted of eighth-grade students Cheyanne Yandle, Dylan Derkits, Lexi Meckes and Katie Yesik, who were guided by high school teacher and coach Chris Bennett.
