Suspect in retail theft incident flees police

A suspect in a retail theft incident at a Schuylkill County business led police on a high-speed chase before crashing his vehicle.

State police at Frackville said the incident began about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday along Route 61 in Blythe Township and continued into Frackville, West Mahanoy Township and Cass Township.Troopers attempted to stop David Flynn, 50, of Pottsville, who was wanted in connection with a retail theft at the Walmart store in Saint Clair. Flynn fled the scene at a high rate of speed, traveling on various roadways in those municipalities.He crashed his 2002 Ford Explorer in the area of the St. Nicholas Breaker, along Darkwater Road in West Mahanoy Township. He was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street, Pottsville, where he was treated and then released to the custody of troopers.He was then arraigned on numerous charges before on-call District Judge Christina Hale of Frackville and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $25,000 straight cash bail.Troopers were assisted by police from Saint Clair, Frackville, Palo Alto and Minersville.
