Man is sought in Lansford break-in

Lansford police have issued a felony warrant for a borough man accused of breaking into a home where a woman was sleeping.

Joseph Zarsky, 31, whose last known address is 355 W. Abbott St., is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.The charges stem from a burglary that took place at in the 300 block of West Abbott Street between Sept. 5 and Sept. 6, 2014.Zarsky is also a suspect in a string of other burglaries that occurred in the borough, and other charges are pending. Zarsky was last seen in the area of 156 W. School House Lane in Philadelphia within the past week.Zarsky is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call police at 570-645-5844.According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Joshua Tom, the homeowner was asleep when Zarsky broke into her house. She discovered the burglary at 6:50 a.m. Sept. 6.Police later identified the burglar as Zarsky. He first tried to get into the woman's home through a back porch door by cutting a screen near the door knob. He eventually pried open two windows, one on the back porch and another that leads directly into the home. the windows were damaged and had to be replaced.Once inside, Zarsky went into the basement, which leads to the kitchen. He went through kitchen cabinets and found several envelopes and purses, which contained a total of about $50.Police retrieved fingerprints from the windows and an interior window ledge that matched Zarsky's.Zarsky has never been permitted inside that home, police said.
