Standing as a timeless landmark on Quakake Road between Ginthers and Weatherly is the 147-year-old St. Matthew's Union Church, built 1868. The congregation was organized in the early 1820s and their cemetery was placed across the roadway. Known by locals as The White Church, historic St. Matthew's represents one of the earliest congregations andoldest church cemeteries in Carbon County.
