Wills for Heroes program held in Summit Hill

Sixteen Carbon County attorneys participatedin the Wills for Heroesprogram held last Saturday at the Hilltop Community Center in SummitHill.

The attorneys prepared wills and other estate planning documents for 19 area first responders, military veterans and their spouses free of charge as part of the WFH program.Military veteran Travis Steigerwalt of Lehighton said that his wife, Carol, had been "pestering" him to have a will completed since they were married."When my grandfather passed away, we realized there was a lot involved," said Steigerwalt. "But if you can make it easier for your family by having your will completed, it is a good thing."Steigerwalt added, "There are a lot of benefits for the military, but it is nice to see that they are offering this to the police, ambulance and firemen."Lehighton attorney, Adam Weaver, coordinated the event.Volunteering during the Wills for Heroes event were attorneys Cynthia Dyrda-Hatton, Jean A. Engler, Seth Miller, Gregory L. Mousseau, Matthew Mottola, Thomas Jones, Matthew Rapa, Jason M. Rapa, Angela Stehle, Kim Christie, Eric Filer, Joe Greco, Victoria Opthof, Keith Pavlack, Nick Nanovic and Weaver.Also assisting was Nadine Galloway, notary public; Sheri Ryan, executive director for the Carbon County Bar Association; and James Gillen.
