Man reportedly impersonating Nesquehoning police officer

Nesquehoning police have received a report of a man impersonating a police officer.

A Nesquehoning resident reported that on Thursday night, a black car pulled out from the police parking lot next to Kattner's Coal and Oil and began to follow him to his residence. When the resident parked his car, the black car pulled alongside him. The driver called him over to his car and began questioning him as to why he made the turn he did. The resident said the man's conduct was suspicious. The resident said the man never got out of his car and that he did not recognize the officer. When the resident questioned the man, he drove off.The man was described as a white male with short, dark hair, wearing a black uniform and black coat without badges or patches. The vehicle is described as a newer model black Ford Taurus or Dodge Charger with silver center caps.Police Chief Sean T. Smith told the resident the man was not an officer and that all officers must have patches on both sleeves on all their uniforms, including their jackets, along with a shirt badge and a coat badge.Nesquehoning police are continuing to investigate.
