Men charged after machete threat

An argument between three men in Tamaqua on Jan. 23 resulted in criminal charges for two of the men.

Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Bowe Street at 3:19 p.m. for a fight in progress. The caller said three men were arguing outside and there was a possible weapon involved. When officers arrived, there was no one outside.The caller then came outside and related that two men from 212 Bowe St. had been loudly arguing with a man from 210 Hunter St. The resident said this was becoming a constant problem.Officers went to 210 Hunter St. and spoke with Daniel Goepfert, who explained he had been threatened by two men from 212 Bowe St., Colin McGregor, 25, and Charles Pashley, 23. Goepfert said the men accused him of theft. McGregor, who had a machete in his hand at the time, threatened to chop off his head if he (Goepfert) came on the porch again. Pashley threatened to "kill all of you."Officers then went to 212 Bowe St. and spoke with McGregor and Pashley. After some initial resistance and demands to see a warrant, McGregor admitted having a machete in his hand when he went outside to yell at Goepfert.McGregor was charged with making terroristic threats of a crime of violence, possession of a prohibited weapon, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.Pashley was charged with threatening a crime of violence, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.
