Man sentenced for robbing two teenagers

Schuylkill County President Judge William Baldwin sentenced a man who was charged with robbing two teens.

Cody Deetz, 20, of Tamaqua was charged by Tamaqua police on July 21 with robbery, theft, receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm without a license, reckless endangerment and simple assault.Baldwin agreed to the district attorney's office request to drop the two counts of robbery, receiving stolen property, reckless endangerment and simple assault charges.He sentenced Deetz to the time he has served since July 21 up to 23 months, and released him on parole. Deetz must also repay the money he took.According to police, Deetz went to 109 Washington St., Tamaqua, on July 13 and spoke with two teenage boys, ages 14 and 16. He asked them to go for a walk with him.They walked to the woods between Washington Street and the railroad tracks. There, according to the juveniles, he pulled out a gun and told them to "empty your pockets." One of the boys handed over $120 in cash and the brothers then ran back home.
