Lack of heat closes L.B. Morris

Students attending the L.B. Morris Elementary School in Jim Thorpe have the day off today as the Jim Thorpe Area School District works to fix boilers that malfunctioned early this morning..

Superintendent Brian Gasper said maintenance workers discovered the malfunction at about midnight. When the problems could not be fixed by 6:30 a.m., the district alerted parents to keep their children home."It was a severe heating issue. We were working on it most of night, but it was still not sustaining," Gasper said.He didn't have details of the problem, but said the two boilers in question had been installed quite some time ago.He anticipates the problem to be fixed in time for the start of classes Monday morning.
