3 armed robbery suspects in custody

Two additional suspects in an armed robbery in Nesquehoning earlier this week have been arrested.

Nesquehoning Police Chief Sean Smith reported that he and Officer Timothy Wuttke arrested Izael Flores, 18, of Willow Lane, Nesquehoning, Thursday morning. Flores was one of three armed robbers who pointed guns at two girls, ages 12 and 13, in the borough earlier this week.A 16-year-old male accomplice was taken into custody by Smith Thursday afternoon. Elijah Frey, 18, of East Railroad Street, Nesquehoning, was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the incident.Flores and the juvenile, who is being charged as an adult but not yet identified, are charged with three counts of robbery, two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery, two counts of simple assault, and one count each of criminal solicitation to commit robbery, conspiracy to commit retail theft and conspiracy to receive stolen property.Frey is also charged with the aforementioned charges, as well as resisting arrest and two counts of simple assault.According to the affidavit, at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, patrolman Robert Blisard was dispatched to a possible robbery in the 300 block of East Center Street.Blisard made contact with the victims, two female juveniles, who told him that they were approached by a group of six males who demanded their phones and "stuff." Three members of the group, wearing bandannas, then produced handguns and another male again demanded the girls' phones. The armed men then physically pushed their handguns into the girls' ribs and arms and took one of their phones. Two of the other suspects stayed behind while the girls begged them to get the phone back.Blisard caught up with the two men, identified as Frey and Tyquan Owens, a few blocks away, but both denied involvement in the robbery. The girls told police they recognized Frey, who also goes by the name "Big E."In an interview with police on Sunday, Owens said he lied about not being involved. He said he was walking behind Frey and four other friends when they walked over to the girls and took the phone, valued at $499.Owens said he didn't know the names of the other four males, but said Frey was involved with the robbery. He also confirmed that four of the actors were wearing bandannas and said that two bandannas were black, one was brown and the other was red.On Monday, Wuttke and Smith made contact with the victims to ask the color of bandannas and to see if Owens was telling the truth. Both victims said that the bandannas were dark colored and one was definitely red. They also said the black male with Frey, who is Owens, was with the group the entire time during the crime. One of the suspects interviewed identified Flores, Frey and a juvenile male as the main conspirators in the robbery. The suspect also identified Flores as one of the suspects wearing a bandanna who threatened the victims with a gun and ran from the scene with the other three.Flores was arraigned Thursday morning before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek, Lansford, and was placed in the Carbon County Correctional Facility after failing to post $100,000 straight bail. The juvenile was arraigned before Kosciolek Thursday afternoon.
