Catholic Schools Week events are scheduled at St. Jerome's

St. Jerome's Regional School, Tamaqua, has announced its list of activities for the 2015 Catholic Schools Week, which will be held from Jan. 25 through Jan. 30.

On Sunday, the school community kicks off the week with a breakfast buffet from 7:30 to 11 a.m. and an open house from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Visitors will be able to tour the classrooms, science and computer labs, the early childhood center and the Lion's Den Physical Fitness facility.Monday's activities will include a special morning prayer for the community and a special story hour, where students in grades seven and eight read to the younger students.School Spirit Day is Tuesday. Students will be allowed to dress in the school colors (red/white/black) and the Home and School Association will provide lunch and ice cream treats.Bishop John Barres will visit the school at 11 a.m. Wednesday, then join the student council for a special lunch. Students will participate in a flag coloring activity.Thursday will be "Vocation Day." Kim Zardet, MCA Director for the Diocese of Allentown, will present programs about missionary work and the MCA. The student talent show will be held at 1:30 p.m.The week of celebration closes on Friday, with "Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day."The week will also include a number of registration opportunities for the 2015-2016 school year. Registration dates and times will be: Sunday, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 1 to 3 p.m.; Tuesday, 4 to 6 p.m.; and Friday, 9 to 11 a.m.St. Jerome Regional School is a Christ-centered Catholic School open to all, serving the parishes of St. John XXIII, All Saints, St. Richard and surrounding parishes.St. Jerome's, in partnership with each school family, strives to form a community of faith living and teaching the gospel message.The academic program meets national, state and diocesan standards.
