Palmerton Area School Board is currently at work on the 2015-2016 budget, business manager Matthew Sawarynski announced Tuesday.

Sawarynski noted that he and Superintendent Scot Engler will work with department heads to review their respective budgets.The budget is expected to be discussed at the school board's next workshop, to be held Jan. 6.Successful fall productionAs part of his report, Engler singled out the high school Drama Club for its successful fall production of "It's a Wonderful Life.""The play was outstanding," Engler said. "It's very promising to see the (number of students) increase each year."Under the direction of Drama Club adviser Brent Harris, the fall production was held this past Thursday through Saturday in the high school auditorium.In other business, the board:• Granted permission to advertise for the 2015-16 athletic/athletic medical, janitorial/lighting supplies, general school supplies, and office paper bids.• Authorized the superintendent and business manager to make and release payments for the remaining December accounts payable.
