A fire was contained to the inside of the residence of Holly Eckhart and Brianna Foster at 45 Fuzzy Lane, off Stoney Ridge Road in Palmerton. No one was home at the time of the fire.

Carl Kern, weather anchor for Blue Ridge Communications TV-13 and a senior videographer, was at the site and said a dachshund and cat were rescued. First aid was administered to the cat, and both were taken to the Little Gap Animal Hospital.According to Pete Beblavy, Aquashicola Fire Company assistant fire chief, they received a call a little after 10 a.m., and there was significant damage to the inside of the home, where the fire appeared to be contained.West End Fire Company No. 2, Palmerton Fire Company, Bowmanstown Fire Company, Diamond Fire Company, Walnutport and Towamensing Fire Company also responded to the scene.
