McAdoo woman cited for pit bull attack

A McAdoo woman has been cited for allowing her dogs to run loose after they killed another dog on Monday.

McAdoo Police were dispatched to the unit block of North Sheridan Street at 4:36 p.m. to deal with two pit bulls that were attacking another dog. They were met by the dogs' owner, Autumn Cleary, 31, who told officers her pit bulls were secured, but they had somehow gotten loose.Officers also spoke with the person who called the emergency communications center, a Service Electric employee. He told police he heard a male yelling and looked to see what was happening. He saw two pit bulls attacking a beagle. He then helped the older man rescue the beagle. At that point, the pit bulls turned on him, but fled when he kicked at them. The dogs ran to 62 N. Sheridan St.The beagle was taken to a veterinary hospital, but died from its injuries.Cleary was also cited for harboring dangerous dogs. Police started the legal process to have the pit bulls officially declared as dangerous dogs as this was the second time they attacked another dog within the past 30 days.
