Squealing tires leads to 2 arrests

Squealing tires in Tamaqua led to trouble for two men on Tuesday.

An officer on patrol in the area of the Five Points intersection heard the sound of squealing tires coming from the area of 32 Center St. at 1:39 a.m.The officer saw a green Audi driving north, without headlights. As the Audi approached Broad Street, the traffic light turned red and the driver again squealed the tires. The officer stopped the car in the first block of Mauch Chunk Street and identified the driver as Joel Vermillion, 24, of 433 Glenwood Ave., Tamaqua. The registration sticker was expired and the vehicle had no inspection sticker. Before the officer was able to speak, Vermillion began denying squealing the tires. He then admitted he does not have a driver's license and had no idea of where the vehicle registration and insurance cards were located.A records check discovered the license plate was invalid and that Vermillion's license had been suspended.A passenger in the car, Ronald Musselman, 31, of Port Charlotte, Florida, had an active warrant issued for his arrest by the adult probation office. Musselman was taken to the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville.Vermillion received multiple traffic citations.
