Police investigate 3 crashes in Schuylkill

State police at Frackville reported investigating three one-vehicle crashes over the weekend, all occurring on Saturday.

A crash was reported at 7:35 a.m. along Route 61 in Blythe Township. Troopers said Brady M. Wertz, 17, of Minersville, was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger northbound and negotiating an uphill left curve in the rain when he lost control. The pickup spun 90 degrees counterclockwise and slid across both lanes. The front end then struck an embankment along the northbound passing lane, then rolled over onto its roof.Wertz, who was not injured, was wearing a seat belt. He was cited for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.The second crash occurred at 11:10 a.m. along Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Janice L. Myers, 59, of Harrisburg, was driving a 2009 Honda CR-V southbound when she failed to negotiate a slight left curve.The sport utility vehicle left the road and struck a barrier at a weigh station gate with its front end, then rolled over twice. The vehicle came to final rest in the grass shoulder area between the weigh station and the road.Myers told troopers she fell asleep. Myers, who was wearing a seat belt, was injured and taken by Mahanoy City ambulance to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Damages were termed extensive to the vehicle.Myers was cited for the crash.The third crash was reported at 11:45 a.m. along Broad Street in the village of Arnot's Addition in New Castle Township. Troopers said Carol Sagan, 69, of Frackville, was driving a 2011 Ford Fusion and intended to back out of a driveway.Instead she placed the vehicle in drive and hit the accelerator causing the vehicle to travel east across a lawn for 40 yards, running over a bush in the yard.The car continued east and crossed Oak Street and struck a utility pole and the rear fence at 138 Arnot St.Sagan, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to a Pottsville hospital for evaluation. Damages were termed severe to the vehicle.Sagan was cited for the crash.
