Bert's Steakhouse owner killed in motorcycle crash

The co-owner of Bert's Steakhouse was killed in a motorcycle crash Tuesday in a Moore Township crash.

According to the Express-Times, James Downing, 57, died after a crash with a pickup truck, according to the Northampton County coroner.

According to Nothampton County coroner Zachary Lysek, the motorcycle was involved in a crash with a pickup truck on Route 946, also known as Community Drive, near English Road.

Downing died from multiple blunt-force injuries, Lysek told the Express-Times.

Downing was the husband of Tracey L. (Goodrich) Downing. They were married 17 years last August.

He worked as an aerospace machinist, and was a skilled and accomplished tool and die maker at Sussex Wire in Easton. He also co-owned Bert's Steakhouse, Palmerton, with his wife Tracey.

He was a member of St. John's Towamensing Lutheran Church, Palmerton.

In addition to spending time with family, Jim loved to hunt and sail. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the church, 2915 Fireline Road in Palmerton. Call 9-10:00 a.m. Friday in church.
