State police relocating to new facility in Towamensing Township June 26

State police at Lehighton are scheduled to move into their new barracks in Towamensing Township later this month.

The relocation to the new, 8,235-square-foot building at 9170 Interchange Road will most likely take place June 26, according to Maria Finn, press secretary for the Pennsylvania State Police. The station replaces the barracks at 5730 Interchange Road, which has served as headquarters for state police at Lehighton since May 25, 1993.Finn said the new station will house a communications room, patrol unit, criminal investigations unit, station commander's office, clerk and file room, storage room, conference room, mechanical room, server and telephone room, and an impound lot.Since it is a landlord-held property, Finn said the actual cost to construct the new building is unknown. The landlord is responsible for the total funding of the property, she said.State police have continued to use the current barracks on a month-to-month lease since the move was announced in January, Finn said.
