School bus crashes on icy Walker road

An icy Schuylkill County road was blamed for a crash involving a school bus and two other vehicles. State police at Frackville said the crash happened at 7:42 a.m. Wednesday, along Catawissa Road, just south of Mountain Road, in Walker Township, west of Tamaqua.

Troopers said two vehicles, a 2011 Kia Forte, owned by Sharon Coleman of Tuscarora, and a 2006 Dodge Charger, owned by John Daukshus of Tamaqua, were disabled on the west side of the road due to extremely icy road conditions. Both vehicles were unoccupied at the time as both drivers were able to exit their vehicles.Earl Ohl, 55, of New Tripoli, was operating a 2008 IC school bus southbound and down a hill when the bus began to slid. It slid into the Kia pushing it into the Charger.No students were on the bus at the time and no one was injured. The Kia had to be towed from the scene, troopers said.The school bus is registered to Kistler Transportation of New Ringgold.
