State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating the death of a nursing home resident.

Troopers said they are probing the death of Fredd John Govern, 92, who was a resident of the Pinebrook Assisted Lviving facility, in Orwigsburg.Troopers said on Monday, March 17, Govern was involved in an altercation with another male resident inside the facility. Govern was injured and transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville, for treatment of minor head and facial pain along with abrasions to both arms.Before his release from treatment Govern went into cardiac arrest and was later pronounced dead.Troopers said the investigation continues into the cause and manner of death. Troopers said when more information becomes available it will be released to the public.Troopers said because the investigation is not complete, the name of the other person involved in the altercation with Govern will not be released at this time.
