A Schuylkill County man was struck by a vehicle whose driver then fled the scene and is being sought by police. State police at Frackville said the incident occurred about 7:50 p.m. on Thursday along Route 54 in Butler Township, just west of the West Mahanoy Township line.

Troopers said Jesse Coolbaugh, 19, of Lost Creek, was walking eastbound when he was struck from behind by a vehicle. Coolbaugh was thrown to the ground suffering injuries to his knees, neck and face.After impact the driver fled the scene. Coolbaugh was able to walk to his home, about a quarter-mile away, where he collapsed. He was transported to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, by Lost Creek ambulance, troopers said.No description of the vehicle involved was obtained.
