PPL driver taken to hospital after Franklin Township crash

A Hazleton man was taken to the hospital this afternoon for treatment of a diabetic condition after the truck he was driving struck a snow bank and got stuck in the area near the Boathouse Saloon on Canal Street in Franklin Township.

The man was driving a PPL Utilities truck in the area between 221 and 285 Canal Road when his truck was stuck on a two-foot high mound on icy snow pack. The side passenger windows were both broken by a 25-mile speed sign and the rear drivers side tire was blown.The incident happened shortly before 3:30 p.m.Assisting Franklin Township Police at the scene were Franklin Township Fire Police and Volunteer Fire Company.Lehighton Ambulance transported the man to Blue Mountain System, Gnaden Huetten Campus.
