LCCC surveying parents of college-bound students

Lehigh Carbon Community College wants to hear from parents of Carbon County high school students looking at colleges.

Sean Dallas, executive director of college relations for the college, explained that the college is currently doing an online survey in Carbon County for parents, asking how the college can best support their students. The survey was deployed to Jim Thorpe, Palmerton and Lehighton high schools last week asking parents to complete it online. Panther Valley High School Principal Joseph Gunnels said Thursday that he was not aware of the survey but plans to inquire about how to make it available for PV parents. The results are completely anonymous and used only for planning purposes.Questions include the parent's future college goals are for their child after graduation, financial aid, if the parent is considering further education, and if they are familiar with the degrees offered at LCCC.Dallas explained that once the survey closes on March 10, the school will take the responses and see what is needed to adequately support the students of Carbon County as they work toward future goals."We want to make sure we are meeting the parents' expectations when they are looking for colleges for their children," Dallas said.If you are a parent of a high school student in the aforementioned school districts and would like to take the online survey and have not received information on how to do so, contact the child's school on where to find the link.
