Aides to the grand marshal named

Three persons, who as members of the local Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, continue to work toward their organization's mission of promoting Friendshhip, Unity and Christian Charity, have been named "aides to the grand marshal" for the 17th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade to be held in March in Jim Thorpe.

The parade will step off at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 9, on Broadway in the county-seat community. The grand marshal will be Matthew P. Stinson (see related story in today's TIMES NEWS) of Jim Thorpe.The aides are selected by their respective orders. They include: Ed Coll, Jennifer Skelly-Becker and Shari Lynne Beers.They will join the grand marshal in being honored at the annual Grand Marshal's Dinner to be held Friday, March 7, at the Mahoning Valley Country Club, Mahoning Township, during which time they will officially be presented their sashes.The aides include:Ed CollEd Coll is a resident of Nesquehoning. He was raised in Jim Thorpe, and is a son of the late Jerry and Margaret (Ferry) Coll. He is married to the former Caroline Watkins.He has two stepdaughters, Elisa Condon Steigerwalt and Kelly Condon McLaughlin; and four grandchildren, Morgan, Chad, Josh and Ryan.Coll attended Immaculate Conception Grade School, Jim Thorpe; Marian High School, Hometown; and the Pennsylvania College of Technology.He is a Navy veteran and commander of American Legion Post 172, Nesquehoning.He is employed by Mack Trucks Inc., at its customer service center in Allentown.Coll is a member of the Alec Campbell/Molly Maguire Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 1, Carbon County.JenniferSkelly-BeckerJennifer Skelly-Becker is a resident of 124 Center Ave., Jim Thorpe, and a daughter of Thomas and Kathleen Skelly.She is a sibling to Thomas Skelly Jr., and sister-in-law to Jennifer (Karper) Skelly, and has a nephew and niece, Brady and Kaylin Skelly.She is the mother of two boys, Bailey, a sophomore at Marian, and Brandon, a sixth grade student at St. Joseph Regional Academy, Jim Thorpe.A 1995 graduate of Jim Thorpe Area High School, she is a paraeducator in the Jim Thorpe Area School District.Jennifer is a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jim Thorpe, and has belonged to the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians since 2007.Shari Lynne BeersShari Lynne Beers is a daughter of Bill and Sue Beers of Palmerton.She graduated in 1990 from the Palmerton Area High School and attended East Stroudsburg University, where she majored in health and physical education/communications.She is currently employed as a medical assistant for Dr. Alessandro S. Boschi, OB-GYN, in Lehighton, and was formerly employed in the pro shop at the Blue Ridge Country Club, Palmerton.Shari is an assistant softball coach at Jim Thorpe Area High School and in the Jim Thorpe Girls' Booster Club.She is a degreed member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Molly Maguire Division 1, and currently serves as chair of its Missions and Charities committee.She attends Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jim Thorpe.In her spare time, Shari competes as a member of the Hose Hitters

A.P.A. pool team at the New Columbus Fire Company, Nesquehoning. She is a social member of the Diligence Fire Company, Jim Thorpe.Shari is a sister to BillieJo, wife of Rick Moyer of Palmerton, and an aunt to two nephews, Brock and Colby Moyer. She resides in Jim Thorpe with Peggy Sue O'Donnell.
