Juvenile struck by vehicle in Tamaqua

A juvenile male in Tamaqua suffered a wrist injury when he was struck by a pickup truck on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 29.

According to borough police, the juvenile was crossing Center Street (Route 309), headed east toward the Rite Aid Drug Store, when he was struck by a turning vehicle. Witnesses state the victim did have a walk signal at the time of the 2:45 p.m. accident.The driver of the Ford F150, Daniel Kabana, of 315 E. Union St., Tamaqua, told police he was driving west on Spruce Street, attempting to make a left-hand turn on to Route 309 when he was blinded by the sun.The victim's mother indicated she would seek independent medical treatment instead of ambulance transport.
