District Judge Steven Bayer, whose court is located in Tamaqua, had a large number of drug related cases scheduled for preliminary hearings last week. All but one of the defendants chose to waive their right and have their cases heard in Schuylkill County Courts. Two men were charged with multiple offenses.

One defendant was a McAdoo juvenile, charged with making unsworn false statements to law enforcement. She was charged by McAdoo Police Chief Jeffrey Wainwright following an Oct. 8, 2013 incident.She was released on her own recognizance.Trevor Richard Christman, 19, of 223 East St., Coaldale, allegedly sold drugs to confidential informants in Tamaqua on three occasions Aug. 21, Sept. 11 and Sept. 12, 2013. The arresting officers in the respective cases are Tamaqua patrolman Anthony Stanell, Tamaqua Police Chief Richard Weaver and Tamaqua Patrolman Thomas Rodgers. In each case, Christman was charged with possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of a communications facility. When Christman was arraigned on Oct. 21, 2013, bail was set at $25,000 for each set of charges.On Nov. 15, 2013, bail was reduced to $15,000 on each charge.Unable to post the required bond, he remained jailed in the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville.Devon Dilliard, 18, of 224 First St., Coaldale, was charged in connection with two alleged drug sales to confidential informants, once on July 18 and again on July 24. The arresting officers were Tamaqua Chief Weaver and Patrolman Rodgers, respectively. Dilliard was charged with possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of a communications facility in each case.Bail was initially set at $25,000 when he was arrested on Oct. 21, but was changed to $50,000 unsecured bail on Nov. 15.Michael Confer of 215 E. Railroad St., Nesquehoning, was charged by an officer of the Schuylkill County District Attorney's Office following an alleged drug sale on Aug. 7, 2013. He was charged with possession with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.Bail was originally set at $50,000 when he was arrested on Nov. 1, but was reduced to $2,500 on Dec. 6.Confer was able to post the required $250 bail.Nicholas Juliano, 32, of 222 N. Railroad St., Tamaqua, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges were filed by Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods following a March 25, 2013 incident.Juliano was released on his own recognizance.Brian J. Fanning, 29, of Hazleton, will face trial on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, institutional vandalism, disorderly conduct and driving without headlights. The charges were filed by McAdoo Patrolman Steven Homanko following a May 26, 2013 incident.Fanning was released on his own recognizance.Michael J. Bodnar, 28, of Hazleton, waived charges of possession with intent to deliver, conspiracy with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance. He was charged by McAdoo Patrolman William Curilla after an April 13, 2013 incident.Bodnar was able to post the required percentage of the $5,000 bail set by Judge Bayer.Kyle Siegfried, 22, of 224 S. Kennedy Dr., McAdoo, was charged with resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and simple assault. The assault charge was withdrawn by the arresting officer, McAdoo Patrolman Anthony DiVirgilio. The charges were filed following a Nov. 26, 2013 incident.Siegfried remained in the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.Brandon Scott Paulus, 25, of Bethlehem, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia following a July 28 incident in McAdoo. The charges were filed by Patrolman Homanko.Paulus was released on his own recognizance.
