Tamaqua man cited after argument
Ryan Michael Daniels, 33, of 401 Pine St., Tamaqua, has been cited after a domestic argument with his girlfriend on June 27.
Police were dispatched to the area at 3:12 a.m. after neighbors heard screaming and yelling coming from the apartment. When officers arrived, the area was quiet and they were unsure where the screams originated. After speaking to tenants of one of the apartments, the screaming started again, coming from Daniels' apartment.
Officers approached, and Daniels came outside in an extremely intoxicated condition. He refused to allow officers to enter the apartment, trying to block their way. The sound of a woman screaming and yelling could still be heard. Daniels continued to block the way and was arrested for public drunkenness after scuffling with police. After entering the apartment, officers spoke with Mary Smulligan, who also appeared to be drunk. She stated she was fine and the dispute was just a verbal argument.
Daniels was transported to St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus, Coaldale, for a bump on the head received during the scuffle when officers were handcuffing him. He was treated and released.
