Panthers, Bears in weekend tourneys

Panther Valley and Pleasant Valley took part in wrestling tournaments over the weekend.

WRESTLINGPanther Valley inPenn Manor TourneyThe Panthers traveled to Penn Manor High School in Lancaster County over the weekend and finished 23rd in the team standings.Lenny Ogozalek and Rian Shubeck both came away with fifth place finishes, while Dylan Moyer ended up seventh.Ogozalek went 4-2 at 120 pounds, pinning Kyle Rankin of Pequea Valley in 1:01, pinning Taylor Morrison of Solanco in 2:56, scoring a 3-1 decision over Greg Pascale of Abington Heights and winning by forfeit over Asaph Alexander of Neshaminy.Shubeck, the Panthers' 220-pounder, pinned John Hutchins of Dallas in 3:10, decisioned Pete Tollinger of Lampeter-Strasburg, 9-4, decisioned Ryan Hoffman of Avon Grove, 9-3 and won by a 10-2 major decision over Zeb Pfeiffer, 10-2.Moyer, PV's 182-pounder, pinned Sam Mancuso in 1:11. He also decisioned Mason Miller of Lampeter Strasburg, 3-2 and pinned Jonah Hoffer of Penn Manor in 3:50.Other Panther wrestlers to come away with wins were Hunter Davidyock (145 pounds), who decisioned Thomas Hatzipavlides of Bayard-Rustin, 8-2 and won by decision over Pedro Tavarez of Central York, 7-1. Lukas Mika also won two matches at 285 pounds. He pinned Travis Penwell of Washington in 4:37 and pinned Erik Wynn of Central York in 1:40.Pleasant Valley inBlue Mountain TourneyThe Bears finished with a 2-3 record in the Blue Mountain Tournament, with wins over the host Eagles by a 38-31 score and Crestwood, 48-15.Kenny Yanovich finished with a perfect 5-0 record, which included pins over Colton Bender of Blue Mountain in 15 seconds, Jude McDowell of Downingtown East in 31 seconds, Seth Korch of Crestwood in 17 seconds, Joshua Dougherty of Scranton in 24 seconds and a 6-3 decision over Trevor Sones of Hughesville.
