Attempted break-in being probed

An attempted burglary, in which the homeowner was injured in the incident, is being investigated by state police at Frackville.

Troopers said the incident occurred at the home of Christine Joyce Donnelly, 50, of 703 Ringtown Road in North Union Township. Troopers said about 3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 5, an unknown white male attempted to enter the home through the front door while Donnelly was inside.Donnelly told troopers when the intruder began to open the front door she tried to keep it closed by pushing on it. She said the intruder pushed back knocking her backward causing her to strike her head on the staircase leading to the second floor.The intruder then fled the scene. Donnelly was taken to Hazleton General Hospital for treatment, troopers said.The intruder was described as being of medium build, about five-feet, nine-inches tall, possibly in his late 20s or early 30s. He has a scar on the left side of his face near his mouth and had no facial hair. He was wearing a dark jacket, jeans, and a dark knit hat. He may have been driving a smaller, older model, dark in color, four-door sedan.Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at 570-874-5300.
