Two men went on trial, one pleaded guilty, and five had charges dismissed in a round of hearings held in Schuylkill County court.

Richard Frank Craine Jr., 43, of 55 Third St., Saint Clair, was found guilty by Judge James P. Goodman of charges of being involved in an accident causing personal injuries, driving while his operating privileges were suspended, careless driving, failing to stop and give information or render aide, and following another vehicle too closely, after a non-jury trial. Sentence was deferred to Wednesday, Oct. 9.Crane was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Renee R. Galle, after his car on June 12, 2012, rear-ended a car driven by Vikki Bohr with her son, Austin, a passenger. The accident happened in the 400 block on SR61.Thomas Jethro Flynn, 52, in inmate in the state correctional facility in Ryan Township, was found not guilty by a jury of assaulting a correctional officer but did not get away scott free as President Judge James E. Baldwin found him guilty of a charge of harassment and fined him $100 plus costs.He was charged with assaulting Officer Robert R. Evans in the officer's station day room on Dec. 11, 2012.Michaela Rashelle Hasenhauer, 27, of 112 Market St., Auburn, was found guilty by a jury of theft of jewelry and personal property belonging to Anna Hallis, Laural Court High Rise Apartment, Pottsville. Judge Charles M. Miller deferred sentencing to Thursday, Oct. 10. She was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Eugene M. Yourey.Tyrone Alexander Brown, 38, 827 Gates Avenue, Brooklyn, N.Y., pleaded guilty to possession of a small amount of marijuana for personal use. Judge John E. Domalakes deferred sentencing to a later date and ordered a pre-sentence report prepared by the adult probation department.Brown was cited by Pottsville police when stopped in the 300 block on N. Second St..Dismiss chargesPresident Judge William E. Baldwin granted the motion of District Attorney Karen Byrnes Noon to dismiss criminal charges against the following:The late Daniel I. Miller, 25, of 137 Saint Peters St., Tamaqua R.D., who died last Aug. 22 in Berks County, was charged by Pottsville Patrolman Renee R. Galle, with carrying a firearm without a license.Tomas Cordero-Lantiguia, 22. formerly of Shenandoah, because the defendant has been removed from the United States to the Dominican Republican as he was an illegal alien. He was charged by Shenandoah Patrolman Joshua Pastucka, with driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol.Stephen Smolar, 41, of 350 E. Union St., Tamaqua, had a charge of giving false information to police dropped. Byrnes Noon told the court the Commonwealth was unable to prove the defendant intended to deceive the police. Smolar was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Thomas Rodgers,.James P. Weikel Jr., 54. Girardville, had charges of terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person dropped because the victim, Tiffany Weikel, his wife, did not wish to prosecute.Charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a misbranded controlled substance was dismissed against Susan Dower, Shenandoah, for prosecutorial discretion.Byrnes Noon claims the evidence shows at the time of arrest the defendant did have a valid prescription for drugs.
