Anyone who knows Darwin Strohl would likely agree his impressive collection of cars may be a close second.Recently, Darwin and his wife Dolly celebrated the 50th anniversary of the day they purchased their 1963 Impala Super Sport, which was their first new car.The event commemorated a half-century since the Lehighton couple purchased the gem of a vehicle from the former Jack Dankel Chevrolet in Allentown.To mark the special occasion, the couple held a large gathering at their home to coincide with their 52nd wedding anniversary."I worked hard all my life, and I still work hard," said Darwin, 73. "I just wanted to celebrate that Dolly and I have been married for 52 years."Darwin said he and his wife were childhood sweethearts. They both grew up on Upper Nis Hollow Drive, the same street in which they have resided together in their home since 1965."I have a good wife, I tell you," he said. "I'd have to go a long ways to find a nicer one and better one who helps me in so many ways."Other vehicles in Darwin's arsenal include a 1958 Chevy, which has been restored; a 1994 Corvette; a 1995 Camaro; and a 2009 Chevy Pickup truck.In addition, Darwin also has a 1950 Allis-Chalmers tractor, which he purchased from his late father, Kermit.Together, the couple has a daughter, Pam, who is married to Brian Storm of Lehighton, along with two grandchildren, Nic and Alex Storm, of Lehighton.
