Special Olympics of Carbon County will hold its biggest fundraiser of the year on Sunday, Sept. 1, with their annual horse show which will be held at Getz's Farm at the intersection of Route 534 and Old Stage Rd. in Albrightsville.

The event raises funds to send the special athletes to competitions, pay for facility fees, buy uniforms, etc.There are four sports offered in Carbon County Special Olympics, bocci ball, floor hockey, track & field, and bowling.The horse show was started years ago by former co-manager of Carbon County Special Olympics Charles Getz and his wife Carol.Speaking about the event, Getz said, "This is a worthwhile cause and the people who come to the show will see a lot of nice animals and how well the horses are trained."He added, "Its a very interesting day and all who attend, not just the riders, will enjoy what's going on for the day."Entrants can either pre-register or register on the day of the show. Prizes and ribbons in each of the classes will be awarded.The horse show, which starts at 9 a.m., has a rain date of Sept. 2.As well as the horse show, there will also be a bake sale, chinese auction, kid's games, various raffles, and a variety of food.Carbon County Special Olympics welcomes volunteers and sponsors.
