Patrick Martino of Jim Thorpe has graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Misericordia University. He also obtained a secondary education certification and mathematics minor while maintaining a 3.94 GPA.

Martino received the American Chemical Society Outstanding Graduating Chemistry Major award from the Susquehanna Valley section of the ACS. He was also a member of the Misericordia Education Club and president of the Dead Alchemist Club. In the summer of 2012, he participated in a 10-week summer internship research program in organic chemistry at the University of Oregan.He has begun his studies at the University of Oregan's Master's Industrial Internship Program in the hopes of obtaining a master of science degree in organic synthesis and organometallics.
