Mr. and Mrs. Edgar A. Poe Jr. of Jim Thorpe are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.

They were married on June 27, 1953 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Jim Thorpe, formerly Mauch Chunk, by the Rev. R. Frank Herr.Mrs. Poe is the former Marilyn Maehrer, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George W. Maehrer. Her husband is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edgar A. Poe.Mr. Poe is a Marine Corps veteran who served in World War II.He is a retired CRNA from Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg.The Poes have two children: a son, David A. Poe of Jim Thorpe, and a daughter, JoAnn, wife of Lenny McGavin, also of Jim Thorpe.They have one granddaughter, Laura McGavin.
