Natural Nail Salon hosts grand opening in Jim Thorpe

The Natural Nail Salon will hold a grand opening celebration Saturday, June 22 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. The salon is located at 24 Broadway in Jim Thorpe in the lower level of the Inn at Jim Thorpe.

The grand opening will include $20 Dazzle Dry classic manicures, free chair massages, refreshments and door prizes. All services are walk-in only for the day of the grand opening. The Natural Nail Salon is an extension of the Therapy Option, also located in Jim Thorpe. The salon exclusively uses Dazzle Dry products, a professional nail polish that performs like a gel polish but can be removed with regular nail polish remover."Dazzle Dry is vegan, and it doesn't make your nails brittle. It makes nails stronger and healthier," said Jennifer Urban, the salon's nail technician. She noted that Dazzle Dry dries in just five minutes without the use of UV lights, and does not have the typical chemicals or odors associated with most nail polishes. The salon offers 80 colors and the most popular textures, including matte, crackle and glitters.Nail services offered include classic manicures and pedicures, spa manicures and pedicures featuring a massage and paraffin dip, "sport" pedicures and manicures geared toward men, as well as warm stone pedicures.Urban noted that one of her most frequent requests is repair work for damaged nails, often from women recovering from long-term traditional manicures who have extensive nail damage."People don't want acrylic nails or chemicals," said Urban. "They've seen the damage it can do."All of our services are above and beyond the products you'd get with a normal nail salon, what with the natural products," she added. There is no additional charge for Dazzle Dry products.Nancy Porambo, the owner of the Therapy Option and the Natural Nail Salon, noted that inn guests have been asking for nail salon recommendations for several years. When Porambo hired Urban, a massage therapist who also had experience as a nail technician, things quickly fell into place."I was told by the front desk that there was a need for nail services," said Porambo."Our visitors want to do it all. Now you can set up a massage or spa package and add a manicure or pedicure. It's really extending our offerings."She noted that while most packages are inspired by inn guests looking for a relaxing getaway, the salon also caters to local residents looking for an hour or two of pampering."We're offering specials to our local business neighbors. They can make an afternoon or day of it," she said, noting that the salon's location is conveniently located near Jim Thorpe's shops and restaurants including the Inn's Broadway Grill."We're just excited to be here. It's a nice service for inn guests and for everyone in the area," said Porambo.Porambo is a certified massage therapist and a provider for the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. All of the employees at the Therapy Option and the Natural Nail Salon are certified massage professionals. The salon is currently offering special packages that combine manicures and pedicures with massage services from the Therapy Option and dining services from the Broadway Grill. One current package is "Ladies Night Out" at the inn, featuring $5 martinis and $25 manicures, which is offered every Wednesday.Other packages and specials will be listed on their Facebook page; search for "The Natural Nail Salon."Reservations are encouraged, but walk-ins are also welcome.
