Tamaqua Public Library has a busy summer planned

The Tamaqua Public Library is gearing up for the Summer with new hours, basic computer training classes, Summer reading programs and book discussions.

The theme for this year's Summer Story Time will be "Dig Into Reading." The program will run for six weeks, with a hiatus the first week in July, designed for two separate age groups. On Mondays, participants between the ages of 6 and 12 will be offered their choice of two sessions, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. or from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Children between the ages of 2 and 5 will have their choice of Tuesdays or Wednesdays, from 10 to 11 a.m. Individual week themes will be Just Dig It, Dig Into the Past, Burrowers, Digging Up Trouble, Under the Earth and Beneath the Surface.A new program is being initiated for young adult/teen readers. The newest additions are: Nightmoves by Randy Wayne White; See Now Then by Jamaica Kincaid; and Secrets From the Past by Barbara Bradford. New Adult Fiction titles include: Daddy's Gone A Hunting by Mary Higgins Clark; The Story Teller by Jodi Picoult; and Taking Eve by Iris Johansen. In addition, several new non-fiction, young adult, juvenile and easy to read editions have been added to the shelves.Numerous readers have made memorial donations in memory of loved ones during the past few months. Honorees include Helen Wetterau, Irv Beck, Emma Bevan, Helen Jones, Susan Block, William L.
