Local author visits students at OLOAA in Lansford

Students at Our Lady of the Angels Academy were recently treated to a visit by local author and photographer Kathy Miller of the "Chippy Chipmunk" series.

Miller, a New Ringgold resident, visited OLOAA to teach students about the art of photography and how to turn photos of nature into stories.Students were thrilled to see the variety of backyard visitors that Miller showcased in her photographs and throughout her books during the assembly. Another highlight of the assembly was a visit by Chippy Chipmunk himself.Afterward, one student representative was chosen from each class to enjoy an author lunch with Miller. The students had the opportunity to discuss photography techniques, the animals featured in the "Chippy Chipmunk" books, as well as ask questions about becoming authors themselves.Students throughout the school also had the opportunity to purchase "Chippy Chipmunk" books and have them personally autographed by Miller. Before she left, Miller visited each classroom and encouraged students at all levels to never be afraid to tell stories and to continue to stop and appreciate the things happening all around them in nature. The students found it was a very inspiring day.
