The last time Palmerton and Catasaqua faced off earlier in the season, the Bombers held the Rough Riders to just two runs.

The Bombers scored three runs themselves in that match-up defeating Catty in nine innings.This time around they saw a different Roughies ball club as Catty came out swinging for the fences, scoring 10 runs in the first inning en-route to a 12-0 Colonial League victory.Anybody can tell you that spotting a team 10 runs is not a good recipe for winning baseball."It's nice when you're on their end and not so nice when you're on our end," said Palmerton coach Mike Svetik. "Their kids found the holes out there and they hit the ball hard. We helped them out a little bit, but I don't want to take anything away from their kids, they hit the ball really well today. Obviously, you can't put yourself in a ten run hole and expect to come out on top."Palmerton pitcher Nick Frey had a rough first inning to say the least. The Roughies jumped on the breaking ball type hurler from the get go, getting eight hits and 10 runs in the first.Most baseball aficionados would agree that the key to beating a "junk" ball pitcher is getting hits off him early. That's exactly what Catasaqua did."The first time we played these guys we were out in front and we just didn't do a good job," said Catty coach Steve Bradley. "It was a tough loss for us. Today we really came to play and we played well in every facet of the game."Catty pitcher Jeff Trexler kept the bombers in check from the onset as well. Trexler was never in trouble throughout the game, giving up just two hits and walking none."Jeff had a fantastic game today and he's been pitching great for us all year," said Bradley. "He's always around the plate and you really never have to worry about walks with him. He's a smart pitcher, never gets rattled, just can't say enough about him. Our pitching staff right now has really gelled and Jeff really couldn't have pitched better than he did today."The Bombers struggles at the plate as of late are something that they need to work on to try and get some wins in the second half of the season."We definitely need to improve our team hitting moving forward," said Svetik. "Our pitching has been pretty good and we've lost some close games this year where we missed some opportunities at the plate. That being said, our kids battled back hard today after that 10-run first. They settled down and played much better. We just need to keep working hard and hopefully grab some more wins."For Catty (8-5), Randall Pacchioli had two hits and three RBIs.
