Saturday morning, local women gathered at Grace St. Paul's United Methodist Church, located in Penn Forest Township, for the annual Rose Breakfast. The Rose Breakfast is an ecumenical event for women to come together and enjoy fellowship.

Around 67 women from eight churches in Carbon County and surrounding areas attended the breakfast.The breakfast featured music by David Westrip and Nancy Moyer. Westrip played the piano and Moyer played the flute.This year's guest speaker was the Rev. Rebecca Cancelliere, who serves as a deacon at St. Mark and St. John Episcopal Church in Jim Thorpe.Cancelliere spoke about grace and what it is."I'd like to challenge you to envision grace as the breath of God," said Cancelliere, adding that grace comes through prayer, self reflection, and contemplation."Everyone has the field of grace. It is everywhere," she said.Cancelliere added that everyone has their own unique gift of grace."Everyone can be a channel for grace."She also spoke about her calling to ministry.Cancelliere has a bachelor of science degree from Millersville University. She also has a master of divinity from Moravian Theological Seminary. Cancelliere is currently working on her graduate certificate in Spiritual Formation from Moravian.She serves as a chaplain for Care Alternatives Hospice. She also leads studies on various topics.Cancelliere told the gathering she feels so blessed to be able to do the work that she does. She feels blessed to be able to help and serve others.The United Methodist Women (UMW) of Grace St. Paul's sponsors the annual Rose Breakfast, which has been held at Grace St. Paul's in Penn Forest Township since 2010.Grace St. Paul's started the Rose Breakfast in 2005 when the church was located at 5th and Center streets in Jim Thorpe.The following year it was held at St. Mark and St. John Episcopal Church in Jim Thorpe. In 2010, after Grace St. Paul's moved from Jim Thorpe to Penn Forest, the UMW began hosting the Rose Breakfast at Grace St. Paul's again.The Rose Breakfast was coordinated by Barbara and Dottie Mumma.The Mummas thanked Rev. Cancelliere, Westrip, and Moyer for being a part of the breakfast.They also expressed their thanks to all the members of the UMW and Grace St. Paul's for their help and support, as well as those who attended the Rose Breakfast.
