A Tamaqua man was one of five persons who entered guilty pleas in Schuylkill County court to driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol and were sentenced by county judges.

Four persons were placed by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP).Joseph John Carroll, 43, Pine Street, was placed on probation six months with the first 15 days under house arrest with electronic monitoring at a cost of $12 per day, followed by four months and 45 days on probation, fined $1,000, pay $300 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, a $50 $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center-South (SMC), attend alcohol highway safety school, receive intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment, perform 10 hours community service, and driver's license suspended 12 months. Carroll was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Thomas Duarte.Anthony Michael Mehling, 28, Pottsville, must serve 30 days in the county prison followed by four years and 11 months on probation with 90 days under house arrest at $12 per day, fined $1,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to SCM-South, attend safety school, receive outpatient treatment, perform 20 hours community service, and license suspended 18 months. On a summary charge of limitations on driving on left side of road was fined $25 plus cost. Mehling was cited by Schuylkill Haven Patrolman Kenneth A. Jacoby.Dillon Friendly, 18, Hazleton, placed on probation six months with first 15 days under house arrest and pay a $12 daily fee, followed by four months and 45 days probation, fined $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to SMC-South, attend safety school, receive outpatient treatment, perform 10 hours community service, and license suspended 12 months. On a summary charge of improper lighting equipment on his vehicle was fined $25 plus costs. Friendly was cited by Rush Township Patrolman Adam Sinton, when stopped on Williams Street, Barnesville, because rear brake light was not working.Melanie Dawn Delowery, 23, Frackville, must serve 30 days in the county prison with the sentence to begin Thursday, March 7, at 9:30 a.m., followed by four years and 11 months on probation, fined $1,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, perform 20 hours community service, driver's license suspended 18 months, and when restored must install ignition interlock on driving wheel of car for 12 months. On a summary charge of driving while her license was suspended was fined $200 plus $50 costs. She was cited by Rush Patrolman Adam Sinton.Christopher Aloysys Rubino, 54, West Babylon, N.Y., sentenced by Judge John E. Domalakes to serve 15 days to six months in the county prison, fined $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, attend safety school, undergo intensive treatment and counseling at an outpatient facility, make restitution of $60 to SCM-South, and pay $50 to district attorney's office for bench warrant. On a summary charge of driving the wrong-way on a one way roadway in Pottsville was fined $25 plus $50 costs. He was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Brian W. Kotzmoyer.
