A Carbon County man was sentenced to a state prison term on Tuesday for a series of theft incidents.

He was one of seven defendants who previously entered guilty pleas and were sentenced by Judge Steven R. Serfass.Stole from familyDavid G. Keen Jr., 27, of Lehighton, as sentence to a total of one to two years in a state prison on six theft and one burglary count. He previously admitted breaking into the home of his father, Daivd Keen Sr., Beaver Run Rd., Mahoning Township, and taking a firearm. He also admitted to stealing a 2007 Ford Ranger of Mack Murrray and taking it from his father's property. He also admitted to the various theft of handguns from his father's home in another incident.Keen told Serfass he stole to get money to feed a heroin addiction problem.Serfass rejected a request to run the sentence concurrent with a state prison term Keen is serving which was imposed in Lehigh County. He also faces charges in Northampton County.In addition to the jail term Serfass ordered Keen to get both a drug and alcohol (D&A) and mental health evaluations and follow any recommendations for treatment, supply a DNA sample, and make total restitution of $1,470. He was given credit for 232 days spent in jail on the charges.State timeAdam E. Augustine, 21, of Kunkletown, was sentenced to serve a total of 16 to 36 months in a state prison on two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-marijuana, and one count of simple assault.He was charged with the drug counts for an incident in which police found he had about 70 bags of marijuana and assorted drug paraphernalia on him and $2,900 in cash. He was arrested on March 19, 2012, when Jim Thorpe police were dispatched to 422 Lehigh Ave., for a report of a "out of control" male. The assault count stems from the same incident.Serfass also ordered Augustine to get both a D&A and mental health evaluations, zero tolerance imposed on D&A use, attend and complete anger management counseling, supply a DNA sample, and have no contact with the victim.He was given credit for 32 days spent in jail on the charges.Other casesOther defendants sentenced by Serfass included:Steven Paul Brownmiller, 49, of Lehighton, was placed on probation for a total of four years on charges of simple assault, unauthorized use of a automobile, and harassment. The charges stem from a June 19, 2012, incident in Mahoning Township. Police were called to the 1100 block of Packer Dam Drive for an assault incident. He was charged with assaulting Lisa Hunter.Serfass also ordered Brownmiller to get a mental health evaluation, and render a total of 200 hours of community service.Ian Alton Brader, 22, of Allentown, was placed on probation for a total of 36 months on two counts of simple assault. He was arresetd on Nov. 9, 2012, by Palmerton police for an incident in the area of 124 Lehigh Ave. Police responded to a report of a large fight in progress. Brader fled prior to the arrival of officers but was later apprehended.Serfass also ordered Brader to get a D&A evaluation, zero tolerance on D&A use, render a total fo 150 hours of community service, and successfully complete anger management counseling.John Michael Correll, 25, of Albrightsville, was sentenced to serve a total of two months, less a day, to 24 months, less a day, in the county prison, followed by 18 months probation on counts of resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, and persistent disorderly conduct.He was arrested along SR534 in Kidder Township following a vehicle stop.He was also ordered to render a total of 175 hours of community service, get a D&A evaluation, and zero tolerance on D&A use. He was given credit for 16 days spent in jail on the charge.It was noted he has a detainer filed against him from Luzerne County, where he is facing other criminal charges.Nikki M. Rehrig, 52, of Lehighton, was placed on probation for 36 months on a charge of retail theft, graded as a felony three. She was charged for an incident at the Hallmark Store in Mahoning Township in which she took a necklace valued at $18.01.Serfass also ordered her to supply a DNA sample, get a D&A evaluation, and render 150 hours of community service.It was noted she has been in jail for 46 days on a probation violation.Guilty pleaLawyer Faison III, 28, of Hempstead, N.Y., pleaded guilty to one count of delivery of a controlled substance-cocaine. He was arrested by agents of the state Attorney General's Office with his part in the sale of 2.5 grams of cocaine to a confidential informant in the Lehighton area on July 30, 2012. He has been in jail since that date.Serfass sentenced him to time served (212 days) to one day less 24 months in prison and ordered he get a D&A evaluation, zero tolerance for D&A use, supply a DNA sample, and render 200 hours of community service.Each defendant must also pay court costs, which average close to $1,000, and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation for parole.
