Kindergarten registration

The Tamaqua Area School District will be conducting kindergarten registration on March 18, 19 and 20, by appointment only.Registration packets will be available beginning Feb. 19 at all three of the district's elementary schools or by calling (570) 668-3306.During the registration process, children will be evaluated by a team of professionals, including a classroom teacher, nurse and speech therapist. Parents/guardians must supply the child's proof of residency, health and immunization records and the child's original birth certificate.Office hours at the schools are Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.Trinity UCCSunday worship services are held at 10 a.m. in Trinity United Church of Christ. Sunday school classes meet at 8:45 a.m.Activities for next week will include: Wednesday, midweek joint service, 7:30 p.m, in St. John's Lutheran; Thursday, senior choir rehearsal at 6:30 p.m.; Friday, fish bake starts at 4 p.m.; Saturday, soup social meeting at 4 p.m.Zion LewistownThe Rev. Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. church service this Sunday in Zion's Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school and the Confirmation class will meet at 9:30 a.m.On Tuesday, a fundraiser meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. and a preschool meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. The community Lenten service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday.Canned goods will be collected throughout the month of February and will then be donated to the Tamaqua Salvation Army.St. Peter's UnionThe Rev. Cheryl Moore will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. Sunday school classes meet at 10:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 1 p.m.Activities for next week include: Monday, women's Bible study meets at 6 p.m.; Tuesday, called to care committee meets at 6 p.m.; Thursday, apple dumpling pick up from 2-5 p.m., prayer group meets at 4:45 p.m.The choirs rehearse on Thursdays. Next week's schedule will include: junior choir at 7 p.m.; senior choir at 7:30 p.m.Calvary MethodistThe Rev. Dr. Edward Bean will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. service Sunday in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school for all ages will be held at 9:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, a time of praise, worship and Bible study will be held at 6:30 p.m.Lenten services will be held Wednesday at Zion Church of Lewistown Valley. The evening will begin with a song fellowship, at 7:15 p.m, with a service at 7:30 p.m.
