The Supplement Food Resource Center at Effort UMC has changed the schedule of service. It is now open from 10 a.m. until noon, the second and fourth Saturday of each month, rather than every Saturday.For more information call the church office at (570) 629-1890.Lions to meetThe Western Pocono Lions Club will hold its monthly dinner meeting at The Old Mill Pizza on Route 209 in Sciota. Gathering time is 6:30 p.m.; the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Guest speakers will be Lions District 14U Governor Angie Mims and also Doug Harbach, director of Communications for the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. He will speak on the impact of the gaming industry on citizens. The Lions have invited the Western Pocono Lioness Club members to join the meeting.Girl Scouts meetGirl Scout Troop 411 will meet from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Zion Lutheran Church.Chestnuthill's 250thThe Chestnuthill Township 250 Celebration Committee will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Chestnuthill Township Park Building, Route 715, Brodheadsville.Knit & CrochetZion Lutheran's Knit & Crochet group will meet Tuesday, Feb. 26, beginning at 1 p.m. The group recently sent 18 knit sweaters and three hats made by them to Knit for Kids for distribution.The church's Sunday School and others helped pay for the postage through a penny campaign.Chestnuthill seniorsChestnuthill Seniors meet the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. Participants make lap robes, boo-boo bears, play cards and games, and more. Special speakers will be in attendance.Night of UnityThe annual Pleasant Valley Night of Unity will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the high school. A variety of groups will take part in the event.
