Former textile facility could become a warehouse

A former textile manufacturing facility in Palmerton could be converted to a warehousing use.

The borough's Planning Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday, at which time they will look over the request from Hager Holdings, LLC, 620 Fifth Street, Palmerton.The business is seeking permission to convert the former textile manufacturing facility, OTD Manufacturing, owned by Frank DePaulo, at the corner of Fifth and Franklin, to a warehousing use.Both the former textile manufacturing facility, and the requested warehousing are nonconforming uses.Section

808.H.2 of the borough zoning ordinance deals with changing from one nonconforming use to another by requiring special exception action of the zoners.The matter is also scheduled to go before the borough's Zoning Hearing Board at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28.
