Bears soccer, Indian volleyball teams post wins

The Pleasant Valley girls soccer team had a nice showing on Friday, posting a 3-1 victory over East Stroudsburg South.

Another area team that was able to get a win was the Lehighton volleyball squad. The Indians took care of Catasauqua in just three games.



Lehighton crushed Catasauqua in a non-league volleyball contest in three games.

The Indians won 25-5, 25-9, and 25-10.

Jackie Jordan led the Tribe with 10 aces, six kills, and one dig. Tiff Thompson chipped in with eight aces and three kills.

Last, but not least Kayla Troutman came up with nine aces, a kill, and three digs.


Pleasant Valley-ES South

Pleasant Valley came away with a 3-1 Mountain Valley Conference win against East Stroudsburg South.

Erin Sharpe, Kaitlyn Smith, and Dana McAllister all scored a goal a piece for the Lady Bears.

Pleasant Valley also outshot ES South 13-5.



Stroudsburg scored two second-half goals to claim a 2-0 Mountain Valley Conference win over Lehighton.

Brittany Thornton converted off a penalty corner 6:30 into the second half to break a scoreless contest. The Mounties (4-0; 2-0) later received an insurance tally from Sydney Cramer.

Stroudsburg, which received assists from Katie DeLuca and Kat Liedberg, held a 13-2 advantage in shots.

Lauren Burrows made 11 saves for the Indians (2-2; 1-1).

The Mounties also took the JV game, 4-0.



Stroudsburg took care of Lehighton 3-1 in Mountain Valley play.

The Mounties (2-0) dominated the Indians(2-2) in the shots on goal department, getting 18 shots at the net compared to the Tribe's five.

Butkowski, Oliver Maloney, and Nicola Scatolon scored a goal a piece for the Mounties.

For Lehighton, James Farano was the lone goal scorer.



Bangor squeaked out 1-0 Colonial League victory over Palmerton

Bangor's Mikayla Mulea scored in the first half off an assist from Lauren Zengulis. The goal ended up being the only score on the night.

Palmerton outshot Bangor 9-7 and recorded two more corners than the Slaters.


Pleasant Valley-


In a close contest Stroudsburg defeated Pleasant Valley in a Mountain Valley match-up.

The Lady Bears Emily Thek came away with a 6-3, 6-3 singles win.

In doubles action Paola Mieles and Monica Jarog got a 6-0, 7-6 (7-5) victory. Andrea Nale and Emily Borger also picked up a doubles win with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph.

With the loss Pleasant Valley falls to 6-2 (3-2 MVC).
