A Luzerne County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence following an incident on Saturday, Oct. 12, along Interstate 81 and SR309 in Kline Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said they observed a 2013 Jeep Wrangler along I-81 northbound swerving in the single lane in a construction zone and making a wide and late turn off the interstate onto an exit ramp to SR309. Troopers activated their emergency lights and siren but the Jeep driver did not immediately stop.

He eventually pulled over after about three or four miles along 309 in the village of Ginthers, Rush Township. The driver was identified as Brian J. Bindus, 41, of Sugarloaf.

Bindus was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for a blood test. Charges are to be filed.

Troopers also noted the county communications center received numerous calls concerning the erratic driving of a Jeep in the area.
