The Carbon County Interagency Council (IAC) has extended the deadline to accept applications for a $500 Social Services Grant. Grant applications are now due no later than Thursday, March 28.

This grant is open to all agencies who meet the guidelines of the agency's mission statement and who serve any population of Carbon County. The Interagency Council's mission statement is to "increase and promote the quality of human services in the community."

Their purpose is to develop a better knowledge of existing agencies and service, as well as to provide support and education for member agencies and individuals.

This grant can be used for any existing programs or any new programs that an agency may have, and is a one-time payment.

To receive an application, email the IAC at or call the agency treasurer, Cheri Mae Santore at 1-800-441-1315. There is a $15 application fee due with the submission of the application to non-members of the IAC. This fee will also serve as a one-year membership to the Interagency Council.

Completed applications can be sent to IAC c/o Mindy Graver, Penn State Extension in Carbon County, 529 Lentz Trail, Jim Thorpe, PA 18229-0060 or by email at

Please note that applications will be reviewed by an independent panel, separate from the IAC. The grant recipient will be notified the week of April 22.
