A Tamaqua woman faces charges after allegedly racking up almost $7,000 in charges on her father's Kay Jewelers card.

Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods began investigating the incident(s) when he was contacted by Raymond Bennett on Dec. 5, who reported that someone had been using his Kay card without his knowledge or permission. Bennett checked his wallet and found the card was missing and checked his account online.

He discovered that someone had made a purchase, totaling $1,816.81, at the Kay Jewelers Store in the Berkshire Mall on Nov. 11. Two days later, an item valued at $332.84, was returned at the Kay's store in the Fairgrounds Square Mall in Reading. An online purchase was made, for $4,238.94, on Nov. 16. That order was picked up at the Berkshire location on Nov. 20.

Video footage from the stores identified Alicia Rae Bennett, 23, of 328 Hazle St., Tamaqua, as the person making the purchases.

The total amount of items charged was $6,957.97.

Ms. Bennett will be charged with felony counts of access device fraud, theft by deception, and receiving stolen property; and a misdemeanor count of receiving stolen property.
